Hi, this is my effort in building a coreflute wing based on the zagi style, I have used 3mm coreflute bought from Cadillac Plastics,
the first flight was in strong wind at Long Reef headland was great success, it flew very much like my Zagi, but way cheaper at around $14.50 for a sheet of coreflute
added a few more pics to Gallery 4, these are of my new dAzi60 in 3mm clear coreflute, I bought the clear coreflute from "Signs Now" 537 Pittwater Road, Brookvale. opp Strathfield Car Radios.
the clear 3mm was $20 for a 1830mm x 1220mm sheet, the coloured corflute 3mm in red, yellow, blue, black, green and white is $14.50 per 1830mm x 1220mm sheet
call Signs Now on 02-9905-1400 or email them to check they have in stock the sheet/colour you want
7th April 2002
put up new layouts for the 2mm dAzi60 I made, I have changed the layout a bit to make things a bit simpler, see gallery 4 for more info.
you can also find info on where to get the 2mm corflute in Sydney, thanks again Andrew :), there is a sign maker opposite Strathfield Car Radios on Pittwater Road Brookvale called
Signs Plus I think, I have been told they carry the 3mm coreflute in all the colours, I will check it out during the week.
31st March 2002
built a new dAzi using 2mm clear coreflute, weights 508 grams as against 650grams for the yellow 3mm dAzi and 740grams for the Black dAzi, see Gallery 4 for pics
I havn't flown it yet but test glides look promising, no combat for this baby!, I will leave that to the black 3mm one ;)
19th January 2002
built a new Black dAzi, see construction photos, also a friend has built a mini-dAzi that is 75% of the size of the original, hasn't been flown yet, needs a good wind ;-)
25th Nov 2001 Update I wasn't real happy with the elevons on the orginal setup, it was a little hard to get them to be free, I rolled the hinge on both sides and also cut it thru with a knife in sections
to free them up, anyway I got a hit on saturday and it tore away part of one of the elevons, made it a little hard to control and land ;-)
I have cut away the original elevons and made new ones that have the flutes running parallel to the elevon,
I also put a satay skewer cut in half to give support for the control horn when its screwed down, these elevons are just just taped on as per usual on the zagi/jazz etc.
as you can see by the picture I used thin double sided tape and upholsery staples to hold the wing together, I could not be bothered to wait for the glue to dry, a bit of tape hides the staples nicely
