I'm Australian, and I live in Dublin.
In 2005, I travelled a lot. I flew from Sydney to Hong Kong and stayed in a lovely harbour view room in Kowloon. Next it was on to Tokyo, where I stayed in a traditional Ryokan. From there, I took a Bullet Train to Osaka and stayed in Kobe with friends. While there I met lots of lovely Japanese people, went to karaoke and also visited Kyoto. Another plane trip, this time to Beijing via Taipei and Hong Kong. I met some lovely Chinese girls in Tiananmen Square and they took me on a little tour. More flying, this time back to Hong Kong and then on to London. After waiting in Passport control for 2 hours, I connected to another flight to Reykjavik in Iceland. Iceland is beautiful! I swam in the Blue Lagoon and went on a tour of the countryside, seeing hot springs and Geysers. From there, I went back to London to meet up with friends, then on to Amsterdam and Roosendaal in the Netherlands for a convention. My next stop was Helsinki for my birthday and then I arrived in Dublin.
In the middle of the year I went back to London for a picnic, and at one stage I visited Thurles in Ireland for a Catholic wedding. In October, I flew to Moscow, stayed in a great hotel and toured the city. I caught a train overnight to St. Petersburg, stayed in a very bad hotel, but visited the Hermitage, Catherine's Palace, and other excellent sights. Our plane was delayed 6 hours coming back, so I spent a night in London at the airline's expense!
At the end of January 2006, I left for Los Angeles, stayed overnight on the Queen Mary in Long Beach and then went on to Chicago. I caught an Amtrak train from there to San Francisco and met many interesting characters while on the train, such as the Amish. San Francisco was lovely, and I met nice people over wine and cheese in the hotel. I went to New York and stayed with a friend, followed by Orlando where I stayed with another friend and had my first taste of grits. A quick stop in Miami and then to San Pedro in Belize to laze by the Caribbean and see Mayan Ruins. Belize is a place I'd go back to in a heartbeat - lovely people, cheap, excellent climate.
Once done, I flew to Dallas, then Vancouver which is very clean and back to Los Angeles to get my plane home to Sydney. A mere ten days later I was back on a plane to Los Angeles and then to Dublin.
Currently I am in Dublin and I'd like to thank the good people at Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Icelandair, British Airways, Finnair, Aer Lingus, American Airlines and Tropic Air for wonderful experiences around the world.
